The AC in your Raleigh home that is running but not cooling may be experiencing one of the following problems:
- Thermostat is set to ON – When set to ON, the blower will continue to run, even when the system is not cooling your home. The unit should be set to AUTO to run properly.
- Dirty air filter – A dirty air filter can clog up the air circulation in your home. Replace your filters regularly to fix this issue.
- Dirty outdoor unit – When covered in dirt and debris, an AC cannot expel the warm air from your house. Clean units will function better and leave your house cooler.
- Tripped circuit breaker – Most ACs have an outside unit breaker and an inside unit breaker. Check to make sure that the outdoor breaker is not tripped, as the unit will continue to blow air into the house even though it is not cool.
Some problems will need to be addressed by a certified AC technician:
- Refrigerant Leak
- Leaking Ducts
- Faulty Compressor
